This Qualification is approved and meets the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, in respect of First Aid at Work. It will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to deal with a range of illnesses and injuries requiring first aid in the workplace.


This qualification is designed to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills to be able to respond to an emergency first aid situation.

 

There are no specific pre-requisite qualifications but there is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at Level 2. 

 

Undertaking the Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work will enable you to prove your competence in being able to deliver emergency treatment to a casualty before professional help arrives. This will help reduce the severity of the effects on illness and injury in the workplace and potentially save lives.

 

Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.

Who is it for?

The Qualification in Emergency First Aid at Work is available for people over the age of 16 who currently work in the industry and who wish to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills required to deal with a range of injuries and illnesses.

The Level 2 Award is aimed at a nominated first aider in a small low risk working environment and enables them to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or who becomes ill while at work


 

Course content includes:

 

  • The role of the first aider

  • Communicating with a casualty

  • Contents of first aid kits (and avoiding cross infection)

  • Recording of incidents and accidents

  • Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

  • Administer first aid to a casualty who;

    • is unconscious

    • requires cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

    • is choking

    • is wounded or bleeding

    • is in shock

    • has minor conditions - to include: minor cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns & scalds, small splinter
