Many people are unsure how to respond to someone who appears to be experiencing a mental health problem.
This course gives people the knowledge and confidence to recognise mental health problems, to respond helpfully and support the person’s recovery. It is an educational course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help a person who may be developing a mental health issue. In the same way as we learn physical first aid, MHFA teaches you how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health.
You will learn to recognise early signs of mental health problems and respond appropriately to assist people in your community, family or workplace. You will gain practical skills to offer initial support to someone experiencing and mental health problem, while keeping yourself safe.
You will also be provided with local service information so that you can feel confident assisting someone to get the right support. It is valuable for many groups including people who work with vulnerable adults and for employers who have concerns about the wellbeing of their staff.
